Aly & Alex :: Wilmington, North Carolina

It’s been a while since you have seen these two on the blog. Or maybe you recognize them from the slideshow above. Alyson and Alex (also known as “A Squared”) had a gorgeous wedding down in Wilmington, North Carolina. They are just the cutest and kindest couple! They were so much fun to work with. Their ceremony was held at Airlie Gardens and the reception was held at The Balcony on Dock Street downtown Wilmington. The details were arranged by Salt Harbor and they were awesome! I had way to much fun photographing all the details at this wedding. What a beautiful space. Alyson and Alex just graduated from UNCW and have moved back home to Maryland to start their new life as a married couple. As you will see I was also enamored with their super adorable nieces and nephew who were part of their wedding party. How cute are they? The very first image you will see is a wedding sign I made for them. If you are familiar with the blog, I make a wedding sign or art print for every couple. It gives me chance to do something unique for each couple and not to mention I just get the pleasure of creating it!

Julie you rock. These images are gorgeous and what a beautiful wedding. So detailed and so pretty. I really love it. Congrats to the happy couple!

Tim & Kay :: Goldsboro, North Carolina

If you check out the blog from time to time, these two may look familiar. I had the pleasure of photographing Kay’s son Dustin’s wedding back in March of this year. I was so happy to get to hang out with these guys again. It is quite evident that they love to have a good time! Tim and Kay had so many friends come out to celebrate their wedding day with them. I am really not surprised at all because they are just the nicest people ever. Their reception was held at Lane Tree Country Club in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Spare Change provided the entertainment for the evening. They did such a great job! We set up a photo booth for them and everyone had such a great time. My super fabulous assistant, Heather Sullivan, did an awesome job capturing all of these photo booth images. She rocks at the photo booth! So, congrats to the new couple and thanks for letting us be a part of the day! P.S. This first guy here is Travis Bartlett. He does a lot of graphic design for me.We can always count on  Travis to get the photo booth going!

:: Erin & Andy :: Siena, Italy

Photographing this wedding in this location was like going to Apple Annie’s in Wilmington. You Wilmington folks know what I mean. If you don’t, I think you should go to Apple Annie’s right now. It was like sensory overload. So many beautiful colors and textures, not to mention the amazing light. Like a photographer’s dream. The wedding ceremony and reception was held at Castello di Meleto. The rooms in the castle are big and open and full or striking natural light. The rooms were painted with frescos (of course, it is in Italy) and just had a feeling that I just wasn’t used to with weddings in the States. We stayed on site in a villa (pictured in the previous post), so it was great that I was able to explore the site before the wedding. The ceremony was on top of a hill overlooking the castle. Following the ceremony, there were hors d’oeuvres in the courtyard of the Castle. Following hors d’oeuvres everyone was led through the dining room to look at pictures, then onto the theater to watch a slideshow. The slideshow was followed by a dinner. The reception room was quite a site! It was my favorite room. The caterer did such and excellent job. The food was amazing. As you will I had lots of fun with the details. I really took advantage of what the Castle had to offer. So, in case you are wondering why there are so many detail shots, I was just having a great time photographing. After the reception many of us went into Siena. Shannon and I missed the day trip to Siena because we were preparing for the wedding, but got to see it for the first time at night, which was super amazing. So, brace yourself….I have a lot to share!

I think my face just melted from the awesomeness! Stunning work, Julie!

Italy

In May, I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding in Siena, Italy. Super exciting! I can’t believe I am just now getting these up. June was just super crazy. I have been to Europe a few times, but have always wanted to go to Italy. Seriously, who hasn’t. Plus, I’m an art teacher, so Italy was like a pilgrimage for me. In case you are wondering if it is as beautiful and wonderful as all the pictures you see…YES! I would go back in a heartbeat, and really do hope I can make it back because there is so much to see. We stayed near Siena and traveled around a bit. Mostly to some of the smaller cities around. Which was totally awesome. The smaller cities (at least less busy than Florence, Rome, etc.) we traveled to were Montalcino, Pienza, Lucca, Montichello, and San Gimiagno. Shannon and I really loved how peaceful the smaller cities were. It was amazing how quiet it was. And seriously, how can everything be so beautiful. Thank you God…that is how. It is almost like every citizen is required to put a pretty plant outside their super textured door or window. We also went to Florence and Pisa. Still many places I would love to go, which is why I want to go back! So, get ready for a lot of  pictures in the next few posts.
